Looks good but ear flaps are worthless
Once I received the hat I liked how it looked much better than how it appeared on line. Then I tried it on. Sadly the ear flaps are very light and do not stay in place over the ears. The smallest wind would blow them up. So the ear flaps are not functional and a waste. It's cold where I live and ear flaps are very handy. Buy the cap if you don't need ear flaps. Otherwise find a different hat.
I'm bummed cuz I really liked the fit and look of the hat. One note on the fit...I ordered two different colors in XL and one hat was huge and the other fit just right. Construction was not consistent.
Perfect Winter Hat!
This is such a cool hat! On winter walks it keeps the sun out of my eyes and my head warm, too. Very warm! It's true what the other reviewer says about the ear flaps not having a chin strap. If it's that cold and windy, I just tie a scarf around my head. For me it's a better alternative than one of those big furry hunter hats. This hat is washable. And just so you know, it's 60% wool, 30% polyester, and 10% viscose.
ordered xl last year, this year large fits
so I had one of these beloved hats and I left it at the gym.... im such an idiot. I purchased for $28 shipped on amazon- sweet deal. Hat fits so perfect (had to return XL-last years ran large), not the warmest, but good enough, and you look fairly decent. I wear it with a big fleece coat with a hood (Gloverall of england) and you would have think they were a paired item... perfect match, I also would recommend this hat with the outdoor research Virtuoso jacket. With these combos you can put the ear flaps down and wear the hood, no air at all gets in and the hat functions perfectly then... just something to consider.
